Composition
A bold floral-woody-green fragrance that plays with contrasts. A perfect balance between the sparkling green notes of galbanum and the soft, powdery notes of iris pallida.
INSPIRATION
N°19 is another of CHANEL’s great perfumes.
The last fragrance launched and worn by Gabrielle Chanel. A fragrance that pays homage to her birth date: August 19, 1883.
When the idea for this new women’s perfume came to her, she faced resistance from those around her who didn’t believe a new fragrance could coexist with N°5. Undaunted, Coco didn’t give up and commissioned Henri Robert to create a composition with a character as powerful as that of N°5. And she got it, in a completely different olfactory register: a contrasting accord of green and powdery notes. Mademoiselle died just a few weeks after the launch of this new fragrance, on January 10, 1971.
“To be irreplaceable, one must be different…” N°19 marks the final flourish of this extraordinary, audacious, and radiant woman.
